We recently went to Walt Disney World as a family of 5 and had a great time! We enjoyed trying some of the hyped-up foods and snacks we kept hearing about.
Below I am sharing our honest thoughts about which of these Disney eats were delicious hits– and which were a little overrated. I’ll also list how much they cost & where in the ‘World’ you can expect to find them!
1. Pineapple Dole Whips (+ floats)
$5.99 dole whip; $6.99 for floats; found at Aloha Isle (Adventureland, Magic Kingdom); Tamu Tamu Refreshments (Animal Kingdom) or Pineapple Lanai (Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort)
Let’s start with the most obvious- dole whips! These are potentially the most famous Disney park snack, and for good reason.
Especially on warmer days, you just cannot beat the refreshing, tropical, smooth & creamy pineapple dole ice cream. These are every bit as delicious as the ones you find in California at Disneyland, and worth ALL OF THE HYPE!
We also got a Coconut Dole Whip Float ($6.99) while on this trip that was sweeter, but also incredibly delicious.
P.S. If you live far from the Disney parks, don’t fear! You can also find real dole whips at Hawaiian Bros, found in 10 states across the USA! More info on this in my best KC Ice Creams article!
2. Werther’s Caramel Popcorn
$6.99 per bag; Karamell-Kuche shop in Germany (EPCOT)
EPCOT’s World Showcase is a food-lover’s paradise. Germany’s Karamell-Kuche shop is always a must when I am at Disney World! This was our first time trying the highly raved about Caramel Popcorn, though.
The caramel smell inside the shop alone is fantastic. I stood in line next to a local who told me she will come into EPCOT just to buy this popcorn, so let that be a testimonial for you. 🙂
Our verdict? My husband found this snack overrated (but is also admittedly not a popcorn guy). The rest of us devoured it. I feel like it’s a pretty good value, and I like that it’s salty/sweet combo versus the other SUPER sweet options found there. Another pro- it’s very shareable for the whole family.
3. Mickey Beignets
$7.79 for 3 large Mickey Beignets; find at Scat Cat’s Club-Cafe (French Quarter of Disney’s Port Orleans Resort)
This wasn’t a famous snack option when I was younger at Disney, but they’ve become VERY popular in the past decade or so. While you can get them in New Orleans Square at Disneyland, you have to leave the theme parks to find them in Florida.
I wouldn’t say that these blew my mind, but they were very yummy, fun & different, and the portions were BIG!
Is it worth a trek out to the French Quarter Port Orleans Resort just for these delectable Mickey-shaped treats? Maybe not for those alone… but the French Quarter Resort is lovely, and has a playground by the lobby! And you can take a boat to/from Disney Springs from there, which is a fun experience.
Pro-tip: You can park at the French Quarter resort even if you are not a guest there! You could also take a Disney bus from one of the theme parks.
4. Fish and Chips
$13.49; find at Yorkshire County Fish Shop in United Kingdom (EPCOT)
Yorkshire County Fish Shop is a walk-up kiosk in World Showcase at EPCOT that features the same fish & chips as you’ll find at the nicer sit-down restaurant nearby– Rose and Crown. You can mobile-order using the My Disney Experience app.
The portions of fish here are larger than life. Truly. And very very delicious. We all really enjoyed it. The fries (aka chips) were pretty good. Nothing too memorable, but not bad.
The view of the lagoon from this area is beautiful! A great place to grab a quick bite to eat.
The only problem? There was nowhere to sit, or even stand. We waited until a tall table eventually became available.
5. Sleepy Hollow Waffle Sandwiches
$11.59 Sweet and Spicy Chicken-Waffle Sandwich; $8.49 Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich; found at Sleepy Hollow near the castle in Magic Kingdom
I love these SO MUCH. They were a huge hit for our whole family. I love that you can sit down and enjoy your food with a great view of the castle. It’s also nice that you can get both savory and sweet options in one stop. My kids really enjoyed the fresh fruit & nutella waffle. For what it’s worth, I didn’t find the chicken waffle sandwich to be very spicy. Good flavor, but completely manageable for my son.
Main problem? The mobile order reservations go SO FAST. So watch the app carefully if timing matters to you. (Here’s the Disney official webpage explaining how to download the My Disney Experience app– essential for a successful WDW trip).
I give these 10/10.
Gaston’s Tavern- 6. LeFou’s Brew + 7. Cinnamon Roll
LeFou’s Brew $6.79 and Warm Cinnamon Roll $6.99 found at Gaston’s Tavern at New Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom
I’m not a big beverage person, so I was prepared for this nonalcoholic frozen apple juice drink to be overrated and not worth the money. But I’m going to swallow my pride and admit how delicious it was. All the Disney internet people know what they are talking about here — especially on a warm & sunny day. It would’ve been significantly less appealing in cooler weather.
As always, I am momming first and photographing pictures of food if/when I think of it… but take my word that there was a beautiful passionfruit flavored foam on top when we ordered it. Haha
“The Best Cinnamon Roll on Disney Property” Reviewed:
Let’s talk about the cinnamon roll here which is equally famous. The frosting was delicious and unique (butterscotch along with traditional icing!)… but the roll itself was dry. Maybe we got a poor batch, I’m not sure. I still enjoyed it, but just a heads-up.
Ambience is SO FUN at Gaston’s Tavern, though, and I love this quieter section of Fantasyland with fantastic and immersive theming. It’s worth it to come back here and grab a quick snack, I think!
8. Ronto Wraps in Star Wars Land
$13.29; found at Ronto Roasters in Star Wars Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
THESE WRAPS WERE SO GOOD. And unique. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Don’t miss these. (P.S. The purple fruity overnight oats were alright; a nice refreshing complement to the spicy sandwiches, but kind of a style over substance situation IMO).
Warning: They are not super kid-friendly with all of the slaw and spices…but my husband and I and our oldest son all really really enjoyed them.
9. Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork
$12.49 at Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom
Flame Tree BBQ is a fantastic quick service restaurant centrally located in Animal Kingdom! The view of Everest is top notch, and there’s tons of seating right along the water.
The food is wonderful, too! This was a very filling lunch, and the coleslaw provided a nice crunch. All good things to say about Flame Tree BBQ!
10. Woody’s Lunchbox Pop Tarts + 11. Totchos
$4.79 Pop Tarts + $10.49 “Totchos” at Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios
Woody’s Lunchbox is always listed as a “must visit” quick service stop. The theming for the foods is fun, and if you have young kids, you’ll be spending a decent amount of time in Toy Story Land. So you’ll want to eat while here!
This is another place I don’t have photos of because #life and dividing and conquering with rider swap & meals! However, I wanted to mention it anyway! Because we did all eat these Disney-World-famous foods and can report back:
The homemade pop tarts were just OK for me. VERY fun idea and I love the thought behind it… but I felt they were dry. The raspberry one with the jam filling was much better (IMO) than the seasonal chocolate pop tart. They currently have a lemon and blueberry seasonal option, and I’m curious if that one is good.
However, the “Totchos” were worth a stop! Unique park fare and very yummy. Nothing will hold a candle to my Kansas City-favorite Totchos from BRGR, but that’s not Woody’s fault. This is a solid Hollywood Studios quick service option!
That wraps it up!
What are your favorite snacks & quick service options at Walt Disney World?
I have a few things I want to try if we head back there later on, like the Norway school bread, and the crepes in France! Basically… anything in World Showcase.
